Who we are

This policy covers smpeterborough.com, operated by ServiceMaster Clean of Peterborough, an independently owned and operated franchise serving Peterborough and the surrounding towns across the Kawarthas. By using this website, submitting our contact form, or chatting with our website assistant, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

What we collect

Our contact form asks for your name, company, email address, phone number, the service you are asking about, and your message.

This website also shows an automated chat assistant. The assistant stores a randomly generated chat session ID in your browser's local storage so it can keep track of your conversation, and it sends your chat messages to our customer system at api.smcptbo.ca so it can reply to you. If you use the "Get a quote" option inside the chat, it also sends your name, email, phone number, message, and the address of the page you were on, so our team can follow up.

How we use it

We use the information you give us to reply to your message, prepare a quote, arrange a walkthrough, and provide the cleaning service you have asked about. We do not sell your information, and we do not add you to a mailing list.

Spam and abuse protection

To stop spam and duplicate submissions, our contact form keeps a short-lived fingerprint of each submission for 24 hours, along with hourly counters that limit how many submissions can come from the same sender. Those counters are keyed by one-way hashes of your IP address and email address, not by the IP address or email address itself.

Analytics, cookies, and other services

This website has no analytics of its own and sets no tracking cookies of its own. The chat session ID described above is stored only in your browser's local storage on this site. The map on our homepage is provided by Google Maps, and this site's fonts load from Google Fonts. Those are third-party services with their own privacy policies, separate from this one.

How your information is delivered

Messages from our contact form are delivered to us through Microsoft 365, our email provider.

How long we keep it

We keep the information you give us only for as long as we need it for the purposes described above, such as following up on a quote or providing service, or as long as the law requires us to keep it.

Safeguards

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access.
